Berres Brothers Limited Edition Chocolate Cherry Bomb: Candy Treat or Disappointment In A Cup?

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of a good cup of coffee. I love exploring different specialty coffees and keeping my morning routine interesting. Those sampler packs you can find at the grocery store? They’re a fantastic way to do just that! They’re affordable and usually have enough grounds for about three cups, perfect for trying something new.

Recently, I decided to try the Berres Brothers Limited Edition Chocolate Cherry Bomb. The name itself conjured up images of those delicious chocolate-covered cherries my mom used to get every Christmas. I was hoping for a similar flavor experience in my coffee cup. Did it live up to the hype? Let’s take a closer look.

Appearance

First impressions matter, right? The foil packet was eye-catching, with a vibrant color gradient shifting from green to blue, all with a nice metallic sheen. The lettering was clear and easy to read, so there was no mistaking the flavor: Chocolate Cherry Bomb. So far, so good.

Aroma

When I opened the packet, I was greeted with a promising aroma. I definitely picked up notes of cherry and chocolate, blended with a pleasant, nutty coffee scent. It smelled like there was potential for a really tasty cup.

Taste

This is where things took a turn. Cherry-flavored anything can be tricky. There’s a fine line between a delicious, fruity flavor and something that tastes like cough syrup. Like other flavored coffees from Berres Brothers I’ve tried, this one was pretty weak on flavor until I added my sweetener. That initial cherry and chocolate aroma I enjoyed so much? Sadly, it transformed into a medicinal, cough-syrup-like cherry flavor after brewing. A big disappointment.

Final Thoughts

Unfortunately, the Berres Brothers Limited Edition Chocolate Cherry Bomb didn’t live up to its name. That syrupy, artificial cherry flavor was just not what I was hoping for. This particular sample won’t be making its way into my regular coffee rotation. Berres Brothers does offer other, much better flavors that are worth trying, though. My advice? Give this one a pass. There are far tastier coffee adventures waiting to be discovered!
