Pixel Buds to AirPods

My unexpected switch.

About six months ago I picked up the 2nd Generation AirPods Pro and they quickly became my favorite ear buds.

A little background. I had used the Pixel Buds Pro ear buds since they were released. Initially, I was impressed with the Pixel Buds Pro. They fit my ears comfortably, the sound was good, and the noise cancellation was very good. Initially, I was impressed with the Pixel Buds Pro. They fit my ears comfortably, the sound was good, and the noise cancellation was very effective. However, issues began to arise. The charging was inconsistent, with one bud frequently having a significantly lower charge than the other. Additionally, while the earbuds fit well during sedentary activities, they struggled to stay in place during workouts. Despite trying different ear tips, the left bud would consistently work its way out of my ear. Frustratingly, the connection issues were the final setback*.

When I picked up the iPhone 15 Pro, I never thought I would soon purchase the AirPods Pro. I thought the design was something I would not like wearing or having anyone see me wearing.

With all the issues though, I decided to look into other options. After many YouTube review videos, Google searches, and a sale at Best Buy, The AirPod Pros got a shot.

What I like about the AirPod Pros: The ear buds are light and very comfortable. I hardly feel them in my ears. Having them in for long periods is not an issue. The sound is well rounded for what I need. There is enough base for me. Spatial Audio is a nice feature. I don’t know how Apple does it, but it almost borders on freaky. They stay connected to whichever Apple device I’m using, and the switching is almost seamless. And there are no issues with the buds remaining connected after they are out of my ears.

What I don’t like about the AirPod Pros: They only fully work with Apple devices. While the earbuds will pair with my Pixel, the sound quality is not as good as when they are paired with my iPhone. The other thing is they only come in white. While I would prefer more color options, the clean white is visually appealing.

In conclusion, it is nice when devices just work. No issues. No hiccups. No down time. I don’t want any surprises or hassles when all I want is some music. I have come to enjoy the seamless workings and sound quality of the AirPod Pros and would recommend them IF you are in the Apple ecosystem.

*My PBP would connect with my Pixel smartphone and then refuse to unpair, even when they were not in my ears AND even when they were in the case. I got tired of having to unpair them, clear the app cache, and the pair them again. This became an almost daily issue.
